JAL says to apply to state corp turnaround body

TOKYO, Oct 29 (Reuters) - Japan Airlines Corp (9205.T) will apply for assistance from a state-backed corporate turnaround body, Asia's largest carrier by revenue said in a statement on Thursday.

JAL said it had started consultations with the turnaround body, called the Enterprise Turnaround Initiative Corp (ETIC), which is able to tap up to 1.6 trillion yen in state-guaranteed funds until next March. (Reporting by Nobuhiro Kubo)
