THAICOM THCOM.BK HITS 2-WEEK HIGH
Shares in Thailand's only satellite operator rose nearly 2 percent to 7.80 baht, having hit its highest since Oct. 21 at 8.05 baht in early trade, after brokers said more users of iPSTAR, its broadband satellite, in overseas markets should generate more income next year.
That meant the company might be able to pay a dividend from 2010 onward.
"iPSTAR business will take off in India in the next few months, followed by Japan and China in 2010. On that assumption, performance is forecast to turn positive next year," Kim Eng said in a research note to clients, adding it maintained a "speculative buy" rating on the stock.
