Oct 30 (Reuters) - Inter-dealer broker GFI Group Inc (GFIG.O) posted a quarterly loss, hurt by a decrease in brokerage revenue and higher expenses, and said it cut 55 jobs as part of a restructuring initiative.
The New York-based company reported a third-quarter net loss of $6.7 million, or 6 cents a share, compared with a profit of $25.9 million, or 22 cents a share, last year. [ID:nWNAB5459]
Total brokerage revenue fell 7.6 percent to $226.4 million and total expenses rose 19.6 percent to $253.7 million. [ID:nPnNY42995]
The company expects fourth-quarter brokerage revenue to be down about 4 percent to 7 percent and total revenue to be down 1 percent to 4 percent compared with the year-ago period.
