UPDATE 1-India's BHEL says signed power plant order

MUMBAI, Oct 30 (Reuters) - India's largest power equipment maker, Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL.BO), said on Friday it had signed the contract for a power plant order worth 50.4 billion rupees ($1.07 billion) that was placed last year.
The order from Jindal Power to build a 2,400 megawatts power plant in the central Indian state of Chattisgarh was placed in December 2008 and signed on Thursday. Earlier on Friday the company issued a release saying it had won the order.
Under the agreement, BHEL will set up four units of 600 MW each for the plant. ($1=46.9 rupees) (Reporting by Prashant Mehra; Editing by John Mair)
