Carlsberg says to buy rest of Vietnamese brewer
COPENHAGEN, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Danish brewer Carlsberg (CARLb.CO) said on Wednesday it would buy the half of Vietnamese Hue Brewery that it does not already own to boost its position in the Vietnam beer market.
Carlsberg, which bought 50 percent of the Vietnamese brewer in 1994, said it signed a preliminary agreement with Hue People's Hue Committee to acquire its half stake.
"The brewery is market leader in the central part of Vietnam with Huda as the core brand," Carlsberg said in a statement.
The brewery has two production sites and total annual capacity of 2 million hectolitres, Carlsberg said.
It did not say how much it would pay.
