UAW local members strike at GM Lansing plant
DETROIT, April 17 (Reuters) - Members of United Auto Workers Local 602 went on strike on Thursday at a General Motors Corp GM.N assembly plant that makes fast-selling crossover vehicles, the company and union said.
GM and the local bargaining unit members have been trying to reach an agreement on contract details for the facility for several months following the national agreement reached between the automaker and the UAW last September.
"We are disappointed that UAW Local 602 has taken strike action at the Lansing Delta Township plant," GM spokesman Dan Flores said. "We remain focused on reaching an agreement as soon as possible." (Reporting by David Bailey and Nick Carey, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
