VIENNA, June 16 (Reuters) - Adidas' (ADSG.DE) sales of adidas brand soccer products this year up to and including the Euro 2008 championship which ends late this month will be 50 percent higher than during the same period of 2004, the last time the championship was held, its chief executive said.

"For Adidas, the Euro 2008 has already proven to be a great success," Herbert Hainer told journalists on Monday ahead of the Germany versus Austria match scheduled for the evening.

Hainer said Adidas, the world's No. 2 sports good maker after Nike (NKE.N), will clearly exceed its 2008 goal of soccer-related sales of 1.2 billion euros ($1.8 billion).

Sales of adidas-brand soccer products are seen at least 10 percent higher by the end of Euro 2008 compared with the World Cup year of 2006, which took place in Germany from June 9 to July 9.

Hainer said the second quarter was on track and reiterated forecasts for 2008. The company expects 2008 sales to rise by a high single-digit percentage and net income to grow at least 15 percent above 2007's 551 million euros.

Adidas is an official sponsor of the Euro 2008 and kits out the national teams of Germany, France, Spain, Romania and defending champion Greece as well as about 100 players. (Reporting by Christian Kraemer)
