STOCKS NEWS ASIA-Shares to rise on U.S. data
(For the latest on global markets, click [MKTS/GLOB]) WELLINGTON, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Asian stocks are likely to make a firmer start on Tuesday, as Wall Street closed higher on positive economic data.
The main U.S. indices trimmed early gains but ended up as much as 0.8 percent, as enthusiasm from a solid bout of economic data was dampened by a Federal Reserve official's warning about banks' loan losses. [ID:nN02437173] [ID:nN02443852]
The data saw the U.S. dollar and yen JPY= fall and commodity prices rise, helping British and European shares to gain as much as 1.2 percent.
Australian stocks are seen rising, with share index futures YAPcm1 at 4,568, a 27.6 point premium to the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index's .AXJO close on Monday.
Australian markets are partially closed for the Melbourne Cup horse race, while investors will be waiting for a central bank interest rate decision due at 0330 GMT.
Japanese markets are closed on Tuesday for a national holiday.
Oil prices CLc1 rose to over $78 a barrel, as the firm data revived expectations of higher demand.
