Gannett names chief digital officer in online push

Jan 14 (Reuters) - Gannett Co Inc (GCI.N) said it named Chris Saridakis, chief executive of rich media unit PointRoll Inc, chief digital officer as the USA Today publisher seeks to expand its digital operations.

The McLean, Virginia-based company, which also publishes more than 80 local newspapers, also said Jack Williams will be president of Gannett Digital Ventures -- which will oversee its portfolio of online classified companies and other diversified businesses.

The appointments come as Gannett seeks to transform itself into a company more dependent on the Internet, where readers are increasingly turning to for news. (Reporting by John Tilak in Bangalore; Editing by Pratish Narayanan)
