UPDATE 1-CNET has 2nd-qtr loss on litigation cost

LOS ANGELES, July 26 (Reuters) - Technology media company CNET Networks Inc. CNET.O on Thursday turned in a quarterly loss due to costs from ongoing litigation concerning the company's concluded stock option investigation.
The net loss for the second quarter was $76,000, or nil cents per share, compared with a profit $5.2 million, or 3 cents per share, a year earlier.
Revenue rose 5 percent during the quarter to $97.2 million. Analysts, on average, had expected net earnings of nil per share and revenue of $100.2 million, according to Reuters Estimates.
The company revised its fiscal year revenue forecast downward from April, to a range of $405 million to $430 million from $425 million to $445 million.
It also decreased its fiscal year earnings forecast, to between $1.30 to $1.39 per share from $1.37 to $1.47 per share, including items.
For the third quarter, CNET forecast total revenue of $95 million to $103 million for the third quarter, and earnings of between of 1 cent to 4 cents per share, including stock compensation expense, in the third quarter.
Shares of CNET fell 3.1 percent, or 26 cents, to $8 in after-hours electronic trading, after closing down 2.8 percent, or 24 cents per share, at $8.26 on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Gina Keating)
