Sept 25 (Reuters) - American Reprographics Co (ARP.N), which provides document-management services, cut its 2008 earnings and revenue forecast, citing volatile financial climate, sending its shares down 6 percent in trading after the bell.

The current credit crisis will further aggravate lending restrictions and force more construction project delays and cancellations, impacting revenue in the short term, the company said in a statement. The company now expects to earn $1.36 a share to $1.40 a share, down from its prior view of $1.52 a share to $1.60 a share.

It sees revenue of $700 million to $710 million, compared with its earlier forecast of $720 million to $760 million.

Analysts on average expect earnings of $1.53 a share, before special items, on revenue of $723.3 million, according to Reuters Estimates. Lack of confidence in the credit markets has led to project cancellations and postponements, the company said in a news release.

"Builders are going to be very hesitant to start new projects until cash comes back into the market," CEO K. Suriyakumar said.

Shares of the company were down at $17.49 in trading after the bell. They closed at $18.61 Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Bhaswati Mukhopadhyay in Bangalore; Editing by Dinesh Nair)
