LAGOS, March 28 (Reuters) - A Nigerian oil workers' union accused ExxonMobil (XOM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) on Friday of reneging on agreements in a labour dispute and said it may decide next week to launch an industry-wide strike.

"The CWC (central working committee) will meet on Tuesday to decide on a strike," Bayo Olowoshile, General Secretary of the senior oil workers' union PENGASSAN, told Reuters.

"What will determine whether that meeting will hold or not is what happens between now and Tuesday," he said.

The union had said on Monday it was calling off the latest in a series of strike threats to allow talks with Exxon's local arm over the sacking of about 100 Nigerian workers.

Olowoshile said Exxon representatives had failed to turn up for talks on Wednesday and had reneged on a number of agreements including the withdrawal of a legal case at an industrial court.

"We are renewing our strike threat because the whole process is being frustrated with insincerity by Mobil," Olowoshile said.

Exxon denied it had shunned the negotiations or refused to honour agreements reached at talks with high-level government representatives on March 20. It said that the meeting slated for Wednesday had been postponed.  Continued...
