Russia's LUKOIL to invest in new US refinery
MOSCOW, July 6 (Reuters) - Russia's LUKOIL (LKOH.MM) will invest in a new refinery on U.S. eastern coast together with its partner ConocoPhillips (COP.N), the Kremlin said in documents on Monday prepared for the visit of U.S. President Barack Obama.
"The investment of the Russian company will be attracted for the construction of a new ConocoPhillips refinery on U.S. eastern coast that will focus on processing Russian crude blends," the documents said.
LUKOIL, Russia's second largest oil producer and the country's largest private oil firm, has been long planning to buy or build a refinery in the United States to accommodate its rising oil output in Russia's north.
Conoco has a 20 percent stake in LUKOIL and co-owns with the Russian company an oil producing venture in Russia's Arctic.
The documents did not give details of potential investments. LUKOIL, which has stakes in five refineries outside Russia and controls over 1,500 gas stations in the United States, declined to comment.
