Russia, Vietnam sign natural resources deals
MOSCOW, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Russian natural resources firms including Gazprom (GAZP.MM) and aluminium giant United Company RUSAL signed agreements on Monday to participate in several projects in Vietnam. The agreements were signed during the visit of Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet to Moscow.
Russian gas export monopoly Gazprom and its Zarubezhneftegaz subsidiary signed an agreement with Vietnamese state oil monopoly group Petrovietnam to explore Vietnam's continental shelf.
UC RUSAL also signed a memorandum of understanding on the creation of a bauxite and alumina complex in Vietnam. The two countries also discussed the participation of several other Russian companies in Vietnam's natural resources, automotive and telecoms sectors, including steel makers Evraz Group (HK1q.L) and Mechel (MTL.N), truck maker KamAZ (KMAZ.MM) and Vimpelcom (VIP.N), Russia's No. 2 mobile phone operator.
