Spain says prepared to guarantee savings
MADRID, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Spain is prepared to unilaterally guarantee bank deposits if European Union leaders fail to come up with a common plan on shoring up the banking system, Economy Minister Pedro Solbes said on Monday.
"If there isn't (an EU agreement) .... we will consider our position and if we have to take a decision we will do so," Solbes said, asked about whether Spain would guarantee deposits. (Reporting by Andrew Hay; writing by Ben Harding)
