Toyota U.S. sales fall 29.5 percent in September

DETROIT, Oct 1 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) said on Wednesday that U.S. auto sales fell 29.5 percent in September on an adjusted basis with deep declines on pickups and SUVs.

Sales fell to 144,260 vehicles in September, from 213,042 vehicles a year earlier, Toyota said.

Toyota brand sales fell 28.9 percent, while sales fell 33.4 percent in its luxury Lexus brand.

September had 24 selling days, compared with 25 selling days in the month a year earlier. (Reporting by David Bailey, editing by Richard Chang)
