UPDATE 1-California Pizza Kitchen stands by earnings view

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct 7 (Reuters) - California Pizza Kitchen Inc (CPKI.O) backed its third-quarter profit view on Tuesday, saying that sales rose 7.4 percent in the quarter.

The company said same-restaurant sales fell 2.4 percent in the third quarter ended Sept. 28, while total revenues rose to $174.0 million.

California Pizza Kitchen said it still expects to post earnings of 18 cents to 21 cents per share when it releases third-quarter results on Nov. 6.

Analysts, on average, had been expecting the Los Angeles-based restaurant chain to post revenues of $175.4 million, according to Reuters Estimates. They are expecting quarterly profit of 20 cents per share. (Reporting by Alexandria Sage; Editing by Gary Hill)
