Exxon plans work at Torrance, Calif. refinery

HOUSTON, Aug 8 (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N) said it plans to shut a unit at 150,000 barrel-per-day Los Angeles-area refinery in Torrance, California, between Aug 9 and Aug 12 for planned maintenance.

Exxon spokeswoman Aarti Ramachandran declined to identify the unit to be shut.

The company told Los Angeles-area pollution regulators flaring may be associated with the work. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by John Picinich)
