NEW YORK, May 12 (Reuters) - New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority on Monday scheduled a second meeting with Hudson Yards developer Tishman Speyer for Tuesday in an effort to rescue the project from the brink of failure.

"MTA Chief Financial Officer Gary Dellaverson met today with Tishman Speyer President Rob Speyer to discuss development of the Hudson Yards. They have agreed to meet again tomorrow to continue the discussion," the agency said in a statement.

On Friday, the biggest U.S. mass transit agency declared the negotiations had hit an impasse because the developer sought to delay the $14 billion apartment and office complex until the 26-acre site was fully rezoned.
