WASHINGTON, Aug 15 (Reuters) - The Washington Post included the following items on the front page of its business section on Aug. 15.

Americans paid more last month not only for gas and food but also for a variety of goods and services, including clothes, shoes, hotels and air travel, as inflation unexpectedly jumped to a 17-year high.

The Treasury Department tapped investment bank Morgan Stanley to assess how vulnerable the troubled mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are to further economic stresses and how much capital they would need to weather them, according to documents released on Thursday.

Under a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission, the privately held Airborne Health will add $6.5 million to funds it has already agreed to pay to settle a class-action lawsuit. That suit alleged that Airborne falsely claimed its products could cure or prevent colds, was settled earlier this year for $23.5 million.
