Tessera files patent suit against 11 firms, units
WASHINGTON, May 21 (Reuters) - A U.S. trade court has agreed to take up a complaint that Tessera Technologies (TSRA.O) filed against 11 firms and related units, the panel said in a press release on Wednesday.
The U.S. International Trade Commission said it would investigate Tessera's allegations that its patents for minimizing chip size packages were infringed in products like cellular telephones, computers and digital cameras.
Tessera asked the court to bar the products from importation into the United States.
The companies named in the suit were Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc (2311.TW), its subsidiary ASE Test Limited and ASE (U.S.), Taiwan's ChipMOS Technologies (IMOS.O) and units in Bermuda and the United States.
It also named Taiwan's Siliconware Precision Industries (2325.TW) of Taiwan and a U.S. unit as well as Stats Chippac (STTS.SI), which has units in Singapore, the Virgin Islands and California. (Reporting by Diane Bartz; Editing by Brian Moss)
