NEW YORK, March 24 (Reuters) - Three U.S. states sued office furniture maker Herman Miller Inc (MLHR.O), claiming the company artificially inflated resale prices for its "Aeron" chairs, violating anti-trust laws.

Illinois and Michigan joined New York State in filing suit in U.S. District Court in Manhattan on Friday saying the company's pricing policy improperly prevented retailers from advertising prices below those set by Herman Miller thus limiting price competition for the chairs.

The "Aeron" chair has been one of the Zeeland, Michigan-based company's best sellers.
