US STOCKS-Wall St extends drops after housing data

NEW YORK, July 24 (Reuters) - U.S. stock extended losses on Thursday following a report that showed a steeper-than-expected drop in existing-home sales in June, heightening concern about the impact of the housing slump on economic growth.
The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI slid 120.75 points, or 1.04 percent, to 11,511.63. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX dropped 8.66 points, or 0.68 percent, to 1,273.53. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC fell 17.89 points, or 0.77 percent, to 2,307.99. (Reporting by Ellis Mnyandu; Editing by Kenneth Barry)
