UPDATE 1-Conoco shuts Magnolia platform; to pull workers
(Adds evacuation details, paragraph 3)
HOUSTON Aug 27, (Reuters) - ConocoPhillips (COP.N) said on Wednesday its Magnolia platform in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico was shut on Aug. 25 for a planned overhaul.
Non-essential workers will be taken off the platform on Thursday due to the threat of Tropical Storm Gustav, the company said in a statement.
A total of 20 workers are expected to be evacuated on Thursday and another 58 will be evacuated on Saturday, if Gustav follows a forecast path through Gulf of Mexico production areas, Conoco said. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by David Gregorio)
