UPDATE 1-Gemstar-TV Guide 4th-qtr profit more than doubles

LOS ANGELES, Feb 28 (Reuters) - Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc. GMST.O on Wednesday posted higher quarterly net profit as revenues exceeded expectations.

Fourth-quarter net income rose to $31.8 million, or 7 cents per share, from $12.7 million, or 3 cents per share, in the same quarter a year earlier.

Revenues rose to $145.0 million from $129.4 million.

Analysts, on average, had forecast the company to post net income of 4 cents per share, excluding items, on projected revenues of $140.7 million.
