Canada opposition not seen defeating gov't soon

OTTAWA, Nov 19 (Reuters) - None of Canada's three opposition parties wants to defeat the minority Conservative government any time soon, a senior member of the official opposition Liberals said on Wednesday.

The government will unveil its plans for the new session of Parliament on Wednesday in the Speech from the Throne. The House of Commons will vote on the government's agenda later this month, and if it loses there will be another election.

"No opposition party is in a mood of defeating this government any time soon, within the next six months to a year," Liberal legislator Ujjal Dosanjh, a former federal cabinet minister, told reporters.

The Conservatives won a strengthened minority in the federal election on Oct. 14, but still need the support of at least one party in House to pass legislation. (Reporting by David Ljunggren; editing by Rob Wilson)
