Chevron says shuts down El Segundo refinery

SINGAPORE, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Chevron Corp (CVX.N) is shutting down its Los Angeles-area refinery in El Segundo, California, the firm said on Tuesday in a filing with state pollution regulators.

The shutdown started late on Monday, it said in the filing with the California Emergency Management.

It did not say how long the shutdown would last.

"The plant is going through a shut down phase.." it said. (Reporting by Judy Hua)
