TOKYO, April 14 (Reuters) - U.S. investment bank Morgan Stanley (MS.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) this month appointed Takeshi Wakamatsu head of its global capital markets team in Japan, replacing Bradford Hu, a company spokeswoman said.

Wakamatsu, a managing director who has spent 17 years at Morgan Stanley, was previously co-head of equity capital markets at Morgan Stanley in Tokyo, said Mika Watanabe, a spokeswoman for Morgan Stanley in Tokyo, confirming information obtained earlier by Reuters.

Global capital markets covers all businesses related to capital markets, including debt and equity underwriting.

Morgan Stanley was one of the underwriters for the initial public offering of Seven Bank Ltd, the banking arm of Japanese retail group Seven & I Holdings Co Ltd. (3382.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz). Seven Bank's IPO was Japan's largest since Sony Financial Holdings Inc.'s (8729.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) initial public offer in October.
