AUTOSHOW-Honda to build Jazz subcompact in UK from 2009
PARIS, Oct 2 (Reuters) - Honda Motor Co Ltd (7267.T) said it will begin building the new version of the popular Jazz subcompact at its factory in Britain next year to meet growing demand for fuel-efficient cars in Europe.
Japan's second-largest automaker unveiled the new Jazz, called Fit in some markets, at the Paris auto show.
The Jazz sold in Europe is currently imported from Japan and China.
The British factory in Swindon builds the 3-door and 5-door Civic, among other cars.
Honda CEO Takeo Fukui also introduced the new Insight, its new low-cost hybrid, saying it would have a 1.3-litre engine that would achieve fuel-efficiency similar to the Civic hyrbrid but at a "significantly reduced price."
