Nvidia says to increase orders to TSMC, UMC-paper
TAIPEI, May 10 (Reuters) - Graphics chipmaker Nvidia Corp (NVDA.O) plans to increase its chip orders to Taiwan's TSMC (2330.TW) (TSM.N) and UMC (2303.TW) (UMC.N), the world's top two contract chip makers, as demand for consumer laptops remains robust, said the Commercial Times.
Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jen-Hsun Huang said the firm will increase orders to the Taiwan makers as Nvidia has a target of shipping 100 million graphic cards this year, the Chinese language newspaper reported on Saturday.
Nvidia had posted higher quarterly net profit earlier in the week on strong sales of its graphics processors, but its shares had fallen as earnings missed analyst expectations. [ID:nN08394913]
