NEW YORK, April 2 (Reuters) - Network chip maker PMC-Sierra Inc (PMCS.O) on Wednesday named Greg Lang as its president and chief executive.

The company said Lang will assume the position as soon as current president and CEO Robert Bailey resigns, a move expected to occur on or before May 9.

PMC-Sierra also said its board elected Lang to serve as a director starting at its next meeting, and that Bailey will remain chairman. (Reporting by Justin Grant)
