NEW YORK, Feb 22 (Reuters) - American Electric Power (AEP.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said on Friday it sold four inactive Texas power plants to Eagle Consturction and Environmental Services for an undisclosed amount and shed another inactive plant to the city of Sweetwater, Texas.

The four plants sold to Eagle, which have been idled since 2004 or earlier, had a total generating capacity of 656 megawatts and produced electricity from natural gas or oil, AEP said.

The fifth inactive plant, an 85-megawatt plant near Blackwater, Texas, was conveyed to the City of Sweetwater under a previous settlement agreement. (Reporting by Lisa Lee; Editing by Derek Caney)
