ATLANTA, April 24 (Reuters) - LG Electronics (066570.KS) on Thursday accused top appliance maker Whirlpool Corp (WHR.N) of infringing three of the South Korean company's appliance patents.

In a lawsuit filed in federal court in Delaware, LG said Whirlpool was infringing patents that include inventions for water dispensing and food storage. The suit named 11 models of refrigerators sold under Whirlpool brand names.

In January, Whirlpool asked the International Trade Commission to issue an order stopping LG from selling products that it said infringed five of the U.S. company's patents. (Reporting by Karen Jacobs; editing by John Wallace)
