NEW YORK, April 27 (Reuters) - Energizer Holdings Inc (ENR.N) posted a higher-than-expected quarterly profit on Monday, as cost cuts helped offset pressure from foreign exchange and consumers trading down to cheaper batteries.

Energizer, whose products include its namesake batteries, Schick razors and Playtex tampons, said net earnings rose to $77 million, or $1.30 per share, in its fiscal second quarter, ended on March 31, from $60.9 million, or $1.03 per share, a year earlier.

Excluding a benefit related to an accounting policy change and integration and business realignment costs, the company earned $1.12 per share.

Analysts, on average, were expecting $1.09 per share, according to Reuters Estimates.
