MEXICO CITY, Feb 5 (Reuters) - Mexico's top homebuilder Homex said on Tuesday the company's main shareholder, the De Nicolas family, bought an additional 5.1 percent stake from investment fund EIP Investment Holdings.

Homex (HXM.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz)(HOMEX.MX: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said the De Nicolas family acquired more than 17 million local shares, which took the family stake to 40 percent.

EIP continues to have 3.4 percent of Homex and the remaining 56.6 percent is in public hands. Homex did not give a price for the purchase, which was not made via the stock exchange. (Reporting by Chris Aspin, editing by Richard Chang)
