NEW YORK, Nov 6 (Reuters) - AT&T Inc (T.N) plans to buy privately held Wi-Fi service provider Wayport Inc for around $275 million in cash, to expand areas where customers can access the Internet with wireless gadgets.

The top U.S. phone company said on Thursday that millions of its customers will benefit from access to new "hotspot" locations served by Wayport.

Wayport hotspots include McDonald's Corp (MCD.N) restaurants, and hotels like Wyndham (WYN.N) and Four Seasons, it said. (Reporting by Ritsuko Ando, editing by Dave Zimmerman)
