Icahn raises BEA stake to just under 10 pct
WASHINGTON, Sept 21 (Reuters) - Billionaire investor Carl Icahn has boosted his stake in BEA Systems Inc BEAS.O to just under 10 percent, according to a regulatory filing.
Icahn, who is urging the the business software maker to put itself up for sale, increased his stake to 9.88 percent, or 38.72 million shares, from an 8.5 percent stake, or 33.43 million shares. He reported the change in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday evening.
This is the second time in two weeks Icahn has increased his holdings in the company. At the end of June, he held a 2 percent stake.
In early trading, BEA shares were up 21 cents or 1.55 percent to $13.75. (Reporting by Rachelle Younglai)
