July 9 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals involving European, U.S. and Asian companies were reported by 2000 GMT on Thursday.

** Validus Holdings Ltd (VR.N) said it agreed to buy Bermuda reinsurance rival IPC Holdings Ltd (IPCR.O) for $1.65 billion in cash and stock, beating out Flagstone Reinsurance Holdings Ltd (FSR.N) in a bidding war.

** Chipmaker Broadcom Corp (BRCM.O) withdrew its recently sweetened $912-million bid for Emulex Corp (ELX.N) after the storage technology company rejected the bid as too low. [ID:nN09442370]
** French media and telecoms giant Vivendi (VIV.PA) is seeking a 4.5 billion euro ($6.26 billion) syndicated loan to back its acquisition of a majority stake in Zain Group's (ZAIN.KW) African telecoms operations, bankers said. [ID:nL9684638]
** Oil and gas explorer Genesis Petroleum Corp Plc (GNSP.L) said it agreed to be acquired by Oslo-based Bayerngas Norge for about 14.74 million pounds ($23.87 million) in cash. [ID:nBNG445335]
