CBS closes CNET deal; Smith named CEO of interactive

NEW YORK (Reuters) - CBS Corp (CBS.N) on Monday named Quincy Smith the chief executive of its CBS Interactive division, which will now include newly acquired web media company CNET.

CBS said it closed the $1.8 billion deal for CNET, adding the news site to its range of digital businesses, including TV.com, CBS.com, theInsider.com, GameSpot.com, Last.fm, and CHOW.com.

Smith has been president of CBS Interactive since 2006.

Neil Ashe, previously CEO of CNET, was named president of CBS Interactive.
