Monsanto wins US top court alfalfa seed ruling

WASHINGTON, June 21 (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court overturned on Monday a ruling that barred Monsanto Co (MON.N) from selling its genetically modified alfalfa seed until the federal government completed an environmental review.

By a 7-1 vote, the justices in their first decision involving genetically modified crops overturned a lower-court ruling that barred the sales until the completion of an environmental impact study on how the Roundup Ready seed could affect nearby crops.
