FACTBOX: Security developments in Iraq

(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 12 p.m. EDT on Tuesday.

* denotes new or updated items.

* BAGHDAD - Iraqi security forces captured more than 80 suspects on Monday and Tuesday during a security operation in the restive Diyala province northeast of Baghdad, Defence Ministry spokesman Mohammed al-Askari said.

* ARBIL - One civilian was injured by rockets launched from Iran into a border area of the northern Arbil province on Monday, said Major-General Omar Sharif, head of operations for Iraqi border guards in the Kurdistan region.

BAGHDAD - Gunmen attacked on Monday evening the home of Sheikh Ibrahim al-Karbouli, a leader of a U.S.-backed local patrol unit in Yusufiya, 20 km (12 miles) south of Baghdad. Casualties were reported, but Karbouli was not killed, the U.S. military said.

MOSUL - The body of a young man was found in eastern Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

MOSUL - The body of a child was found in eastern Mosul on Monday, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb wounded six people including two policemen in Palestine street, in eastern Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces captured 15 militants during operations in central and northern Iraq on Tuesday, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - Iraqi soldiers killed two militants and arrested 99 others during last 24 hours in different areas of Iraq, the Defence Ministry said.

KIRKUK - Militants killed three members of a U.S.-backed neighborhood patrol who were guarding a checkpoint just southwest of Kirkuk, 250 km (150 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

SUWAYRA - Two handcuffed bodies were recovered from a river on Monday in Suwayra, 50 km (30 miles) southeast of Baghdad, police said. A third body was found near the river.

KERBALA - A bomb planted in a minibus exploded and wounded four people on Monday in central Kerbala, 80 km (50 miles) southwest of Baghdad, police said.

MOSUL - A suicide bomber wounded one U.S. soldier and one other person on Monday in Mosul, the U.S. military said.

NEAR HILLA - A man was found shot dead on Monday just south of Hilla, 100 km (60 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.
