* FALLUJA - Two marines and one sailor were killed in combat in western Anbar province in recent days, the U.S. military said in a statement.
BAGHDAD - More than 1,000 U.S. and Iraqi troops began major clearing operations in Sadr City, a Shi'ite militia bastion in Baghdad, meeting no resistance as they searched homes and patrolled as part of a major security plan for Baghdad.
MOSUL - Gunmen killed two policemen when they attacked a police station in Mosul, police said.
MOSUL - Police found 10 bullet-riddled bodies, including two policemen and four brothers, in different parts of Mosul, police said.
BAGHDAD - A car bomb exploded in Karrada district of Baghdad, killing two people and wounding four, police said.
BAGHDAD - U.S. forces detained three suspected militants during a raid at a mosque in Baghdad, the U.S. military said. A woman was wounded during the operation.
NEAR BAQUBA - A roadside bomb exploded near an Iraqi army patrol in a village near Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.
BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb killed one person and wounded three others in al-Kifah street in central Baghdad, police said.
BAGHDAD - A total of 10 bodies were found shot dead on Saturday in different districts of Baghdad, police said.
MOSUL - A total of nine bodies were found shot dead on Saturday in different districts of Mosul, police said.
BAGHDAD - A journalist was shot dead outside his home in a Sunni neighborhood in western Baghdad, neighbors and colleagues at his newspaper said. Mohan al-Dhaher was a senior editor at the independent al-Mashriq daily newspaper.
NEAR TIKRIT - The bodies of two people were found shot dead east of Tikrit, police said.
TIKRIT - U.S. and Iraqi forces detained more than 50 suspected insurgents in three days of operations near Tikrit, the U.S. military said.
