Russia government resigns after new president sworn in
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia's government resigned on Wednesday after Dmitry Medvedev was sworn in as the country's new president.
Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov signed an order for the government to resign, the official www.government.ru Web site said. It is standard procedure for Russian cabinets to step down when a new president takes office.
Former president Vladimir Putin has said he will serve as Medvedev's prime minister.
