Abbas hopes for "peaceful solution" on Israel-Syria

BETHLEHEM, West Bank (Reuters) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said on Wednesday he hoped Israel and Syria would reach a "peaceful solution" after they announced they had launched indirect talks mediated by Turkey.

"We are hearing news about Syria and Israel, we hope that the two parties will reach a peaceful solution," Abbas said in a speech in Bethlehem to open a Palestinian investment conference.
