MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday that relations with the United States "inspire alarm," Itar-Tass news agency reported.

The exact context of the comment was unclear and Tass appeared to be the only Russian news agency reporting the comment, made in a speech to a think tank in Moscow.

Lavrov also said Russia wanted wider discussions on a major arms pact, after talks in Vienna this month ended in deadlock.

"We do not want to bury CFE," Lavrov was quoted as saying by Tass in reference to the 1990 Conventional Forces in Europe treaty.
