HOUSTON (Reuters) - Transocean Inc., the world's largest offshore driller, on Thursday said it had evacuated 11 support workers late Wednesday from a deepwater rig off the coast of Louisiana due to Hurricane Dean.

"We evacuated 11 non-essential personnel from the Deepwater Nautilus late yesterday as a precautionary measure," the company said in an email message. "The Deepwater Nautilus is a moored semi-submersible rig, and 125 people remain onboard about 90 miles southeast of Pilottown, Louisiana, and south of the Mississippi, Alabama border."

Houston-based Transocean said it is ready to take additional action if needed.
