FACTBOX: Dolly's impact to Gulf of Mexico oil sector

(Reuters) - Tropical Storm Dolly, the first serious threat to the U.S. Gulf of Mexico coast this year, has shut 4.7 percent of Gulf oil output and 5.1 percent of Gulf natural gas output.

Dolly was expected to become a hurricane before coming ashore near the Texas border with Mexico on Wednesday.

The Gulf provides 25 percent of U.S. oil output and 15 percent of U.S. natural gas production.

Following are energy industry developments so far in response to the threat from Dolly.

******************OFFSHORE PRODUCTION IMPACT******************

- Exxon Mobil Corp shut 10,000 barrels per day of liquids and 40 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.

- Anadarko Petroleum Corp. shut 30,000 barrels per day of oil equivalent production.

- Apache Corp shuts in 56 million cubic feet per day of natural gas production.

- Shell and Chevron, two of the largest U.S. Gulf of Mexico producers, said no effect on their oil and gas flows so far.

- U.S. Minerals Management Service said Tuesday 60,621 barrels per day of oil - 4.7 percent of total Gulf output - and 395 million cubic feet per day of natural gas - 5.1 percent - have been shut in.

*****************OFFSHORE PIPELINE IMPACT********************

- Williams Cos Inc said its Transco pipeline system is carrying 250 million cubic feet per day less natural gas due to well shut-ins.

********************OFFSHORE EVACUATIONS**********************

- Anadarko has evacuated 180 workers from Nansen, Boomvang and Gunnison platforms in the western Gulf of Mexico.

- Apache Corp said it was pulling 140 people from Gulf of Mexico platforms.

- Shell said it has evacuated 185 personnel from offshore facilities.  Continued...
