SEOUL (Reuters) - Eight of the 23 South Korean hostages held by Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan will be released on Wednesday, Yonhap news agency quoted an unnamed South Korean government official as saying.

The report comes as the Taliban said they killed one of the 23 hostages on Wednesday after Kabul failed to free Taliban prisoners. A Taliban spokesman said insurgents would kill more if their demands were not met.
