U.S. senior officials: Rules reform could help
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. President's Working Group on Financial Markets said on Friday an overhaul of rules governing financial behavior could ease global market turmoil.
"Recent market events have highlighted ... the need for a consideration of changes to the financial regulatory structure to restore confidence in financial markets and financial institutions," the group said in report.
The working group is made up of top officials of the Treasury Department, the Federal Reserve, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
