WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Monday the U.S. economy was facing uncertainty but he was optimistic about its long-term growth prospects.

"As we meet tonight, our economy is undergoing a period of uncertainty," Bush said in excerpts of his State of the Union speech to Congress. "In the long run, Americans can be confident about our economic growth."
